    STREET ART HUNT, PENANG

Street murals and installations are at the mercy of the weather and city development. In Penang, as old ones disappear, new ones will spring. This video document various street arts which you can find in Penang. (Shooting date 17-18 August 2013). All together, it took me 6 hours to hike to hunt these street arts. Shot using an iPad.

    UPDATE PAKSAAN

    5. Hari ini aku bernafas macam biasa, ikut hidung.

    Itu sahaja aku nak lapor.

    MENGENANG YASMIN AHMAD

I am currently reading Yasmin How You Know. Then, today on Awani News there's this article "Mengenang Yasmin Ahmad." I rewatch her artworks on youtube.

Then I visited her flickr photo page. This is where I got to know her.

    Sayu. Sebak.

    Al-Fatihah.

    RAMADHAN AFIMON

Semalam Afimon tidur sebelum buka. Kepenatan. Aku kejutkan bila azan Maghrib bergema. Dia bangkit komplen kenapa kejut dia lambat dan kenapa jam dinding terlalu cepat.

Lepas buka dia mandi, jebur jebur jebur.

Lantas dia pakai baju sekolah. Dan duduk di sofa memakai stokin sekolah. Beg sekolah di tepi.

La haiiiii. Dia ingat dia bangun sahur rupanya.

    JHB-PEN AIRPORT SKETCHES

Went to Penang for a job. Spent most of my time stuck waiting at the airport.

Here are some sketches of the journey.

JALAN TRUS AND WADIHANA URBAN SKETCHERS JOHOR

Taib, Fizal and I when to Jln Trus. We sketched the archways that connect shop lots. I tried using watercolor. Not bad, but I think I should stick to ink.

Later, Fizal and I went to Wadihana for Friday prayer. After that, we had lunch under a flyover.

WONG AH FOOK MANSION - Urban Sketchers Johor

The name of the street that cut through downtown Johor Bahru is Wong Ah Fook. This man must be very important to have the main street named after him.

Wong Ah Fook (1837–1918) was a Chinese immigrant, and building contractor who built numerous grand buildings for the state government of Johor. Among others, he built the royal palace and the state penitentiary.

Buz and Taib found out that Wong Ah Fook used to live in a mansion at Jalan Lumba Kuda, Johor Bahru. We visited the mansion. It's now a dilapidated old two storey building. A Chinese couple live on the upper floor and some immigrants live on the floor below. Part of the mansion is used as an automobile workshop. It's unclear who owns the building now.

The mansion has stories to be told. On Sunday morning, June 23, 2013, Taib, Buzz, Hafizal and I sketched the building.

    My humble drawing. :-P

    GUNUNG IRAU 1 JUN 2013

Aku jadi pemandu. Jam 6 petang sampai Tanah Rata, Cameron Highland.

Kumpulan kami 21 orang. Pecah kepada 3 homestay. Aku terus tidur tak makan malam. Aku mabuk dan demam darat. Jalan berliku panjat Cameron Highland buat aku mual.

Esoknya, aku segar. Terus memandu ke Mossy Forest. Pendakian mula dari situ. Pendakian 2.35 km ambil masa 3 jam. Puncak Gunung Irau biasa-biasa je tapi perjalanan menyamankan mata menempuh hutan lumut dalam iklim nyaman gunung (10-17 Celcius). Tidak berpeluh banyak pun. Penat tetap penat, tapi penat syok punya.

    Padan Muka

Note to self, jangan pergi ke tempat tarikan pelancong macam Cameron Highland waktu cuti sekolah.

Malam tu makan di restoran penuh dengan penyokong Pahang, Pahang vs Johor separuh akhir piala FA. Johor Menang. Aku orang Johor, aku suka tapi aku senyum je. Nak mampus sorak-sorak dalam restoran penuh penyokong lawan?

2 Jun pusing-pusing Cameron. Banyak masa habis dalam kesesakan jalanraya. Dalam kepala aku, baiklah masuk hutan panjat gunung Irau sekali lagi.

Apa pun sampai Johor Bahru jam 1 pagi, 3 Jun.

Untuk video, aku test resolution GoPro 1440, wide. Enjoy.

    PEMANDU PELENCONG BELANTARA

Namanya Panggong Punggok. 2. Aku memikirkan Pemandu Pelencong Belantara setahun yang lalu tapi cuma berkesempatan shooting 1 May 2013 ketika di Hutan Simpan Gunung Arong. Shoot 100% guna GoPro Hero 2 milik Chubby. 3. 4. 25 Mei 2013, aku tayangkan rough cut Panggong Punggok. Semua edit asas atas Ipad guna Imovie. Alhamdullilah, khalayak menerima dengan baik.

    GUNUNG DATUK , REMBAU 18 MEI 2013

Gua baru angkat GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition. Gua namakan kamera gua Goppy. Eh... gua punya pasal la. Sukati gua la nak bagi nama. Gua tengok awek sayang kereta, bagi nama kat kereta. Sayang laptop, bagi nama kat laptop. Gua sayang Goppy, okay?! Buat masa ni gua dah buat chest mount harga RM10. Gua jimat RM200 tu dari beli produk chest mount branded. Untuk first test drive, gua ke Gunung Datuk, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. 885m dari aras laut pada 18 May 2013. Setting default mode je dulu.

    GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition

Fo beginners, here are the GoPro packages you really need. Don't buy everything and find out later you don't really need it. And some of the accessories, can be made DIY.

    1. Buy Hero 3 black edition (rm1499) It will come together with remote and basic waterproof housing and mountings. You can't diy this.

    2. Buy 32gb class 10 SD card (rm119). Don't buy 64gb (rm299) as many computers haven't supported it yet. I made this mistake so you don't have to. Think positive.

Anybody need a 64gb sd card for your dslr, you can negotiate the price with me.

Now you can start shooting. You can start with a car joyride scene.

    3. Buy LCD Bac Pac (rm399) to review your video in playback mode. When you attach this bac pac, your gopro will become bulkier and the original housing cannot be used anymore. Luckily, LCD bac pac comes with bigger housing. Thus, you don't need to buy extra housings or frames.

    4. Buy mountings according to your needs. Some people go for surf mounting, some like cycling. As I am into hiking, I bought a seat/handle bar mount (rm89) I'll attach my gopro to a pole.

I really want a chest mount for POV shots.  A chest mount would cost rm189 but I am thinking of a diy project. Perhaps I'll buy a sport bra and attach the existing mount on it. Ha ha ha. We'll see.

You also need to think how you'll edit your videos. So buy your sd card reader and computers as you go by.

WANITA TERAKHIR DALAM DUNIA - Certot

Hakim yang bijaksana dan tuan-tuan sekalian.

Kami sedia maklum bahawa kes Kerajaan lawan Juwita Jones menimbulkan kemarahan rakyat.

    Izinkan saya menyorot sejarah sedikit.

Tinggallah Juwita sendirian sehingga dia ditemui ketika usianya menjangkau 28.

Sejak ditemui, Juwita Jones perlu akur dengan perintah am akta Senggama. Juwita Jones perlu melayan seorang lelaki setiap malam.
